Osteopathy

Osteopathy is an established system of diagnosis and treatment. It is used to help a wide range of medical conditions such as arthritis, back pain, and neck pain. Our osteopathy treatment includes a range of manual techniques including manipulation, stretching, and soft tissue techniques. It increases mobility to spinal and peripheral joints, relieves pain and muscle tension, and increases blood supply to tissues.

This reduces the body's inflammatory responses which in turn reduces the pain. We can also provide advice on additional techniques which may help including lifestyle changes, posture alteration, and recommended exercises.

What happens at my first consultation?

Within your initial consultation, we will discuss your general health details and history in order to determine your health and symptoms. This will also give us more information on whether a GP referral is necessary. Then, we will examine all relevant joints and treatment will be included within your first session. Your first consultation should last approximately 30 minutes.

Treatment is not usually painful. It aims to reduce muscle spasms, inflammation, and pain. Our most commonly used techniques include:

• Articulation - A range of gentle joint movements
• Soft tissue - Applying a range of pressures on muscle tissues
• Manipulation - often accompanied by a clicking sound, this technique will only be used if the patient is comfortable
