If you suffer with back pain, Walsh Osteopathy can help. Osteopathy is an effective, natural form of pain relief. It can help restore elasticity to targeted muscles.
There are many reasons why you may be suffering with back pain. It could be a minor injury or a medical condition which is causing the tension. Conditions which may cause pain include a slipped disc, sciatica, ankylosing spondylitis and spondylolisthesis. If you are finding that pain relief medication isn't providing sufficient relief, then osteopathy may be the lasting solution you are looking for.
Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment which can ease pain for a variety of medical conditions including arthritis, neck pain and back pain. It uses a range of gentle manual techniques like stretching, manipulation and soft tissue to increase mobility to the peripheral and spinal joints, increase blood supply to affected tissues and ultimately relieve muscle tension. This reduces the body's inflammatory responses and reduces the pain you are in. Within your consultation, we will discuss additional techniques which can help including posture modification, lifestyle changes and recommended exercises.
Your first consultation will last around 30 minutes. Firstly, we will discuss your medical history to determine your health and linked symptoms. It also gives the practitioner all the information they need to make a decision whether a GP referral is necessary. All of your relevant joint will be examined and treatment is included. The treatment should never be painful. It aims to reduce inflammation, pain and muscle spasm. Our most commonly used techniques include:
Articulation - A range of gentle joint movements
Soft Tissue - Light to firm pressure application to muscles
Manipulation - Moving the joints which is often accompanied with a clicking sound - only used if the patient is comfortable
